Students will spend a large portion of this class writing. We will be writing on paper, in our writing journals, or on a google doc. Students are expected to come to class prepared with a sharpened pencil, fully charged chromebook, one black pen, one red pen, and one highlighter. In addition, students should bring their binder, their personal writing journal, and any handout materials to class daily.
Students will apply the techniques of modeled writing styles and forms in their own work. The course reviews, explores, and practices the writing process emphasizing each step: prewriting, drafting, editing, revising, and publishing. Grammar usage and mechanics are taught, practiced, and applied to their own writing. An individualized computer program from IXL and/or NoRedInk will assist students with specific grammar concepts.
